Description
Once a subservient slave race of the Oldavori Empire. Scholars and historians often argue if Giants were the result of experimental splicing like Shapeshifters and Psyflayers were, or if they were creations that always existed upon Tharador. There is little evidence in texts of such creatures prior to the Colossal War so the latter is often thought.
Still there is plenty of evidence that they were enslaved by the Colossals and used as workhorses and labourers for hauling the largest pieces of war machines and supplies, and often were armed and sent into the front lines against the Men that warred against them. When the Oldavori Empire fell, the Giants that they held in servitude split off in many ways across Tharador’s North. Though they have changed little in terms of physical attributes, they have each formed distinct cultures in the lands they claimed as their homes. In Brighstone the Hill Giants returned to a rustic and lifestyle of living off the land, living mostly in solitude unless they have found a mate.
A sole Hill Giant is a mostly indifferent creature, taking little notice of humans or their affairs unless it encroaches on their home. However they have been known to make meals of humans should one be unfortunate enough to wander into a trap of such a Giant or to its lair. A Giant Pair though that is mating or expecting is a different story, and are fiercely territorial to the point they will pursue a trespasser for up to two miles from their home before giving up. These trespassers are usually also made into meals as well, though in some circumstances the Giants do not leave enough to make a meal of.
