Ertkener, Riverstalker

The Riverstalker is a creature found mostly in shallow wetlands, rivers and other bodies of water that allow them to easily conceal themselves under sand and sediment in the shallow surface, springing on prey as they come to drink. Many times this often leads to the death of an unfortunate traveller or unseasoned adventurer that happens to be filling their flask at such a water source, though the Riverstalker’s prey is mostly deer and similar quadrupedal beasts.

Thought to be a spawn of the Deep Divine Quorenderi, the Riverstalkers have inhabited Tharador’s north since the days of the Oldavori Empire, long before Men settled in the area. It’s theorised by scholars that the Riverstalkers may have been sent north by Quorenderi to attempt to attack the Colossals at their home during the Age of Creation when over half their population was in the south, fighting in Baladir and modern day Nan Thalias. However even the Colossals that remained behind proved stronger than Quorenderi predicted, and they utterly obliterated this strikeforce. Though still, populations remained and when Mindoriel and her Spawn were defeated, the remaining populations regressed to mindless beasts.

Their population has now grown enough that they pose a threat to travellers near rivers and have begun disrupting local ecosystems, having no natural predators of their own and a rather quick lifecycle. Hex Hunters in Greypeak have often hunted them but it seems for each killed two more hide beneath the sand waiting for the Hunter to leave. Now they have travelled as far inland as Zwilling Zwei in Brightstone, some being enhanced in their bodies and minds to be stronger and wiser than the common spawn. This has led the Hex Hunters to fear an otherworldly force might be driving them, suspecting the Sphinx on the mountain nearby which has had similar effects on other monsters in the past.

The information below applies to most products on this site. Any exceptions will be noted in the individual item descriptions.

Size references (Medium, Large, Huge, etc.) are done at a 28mm(1″) scale using standard D&D rules. This means that minis will have a size commensurate with the diameter of their base:

  • Small/Tiny – 1″ diameter base or smaller (depends on the mini)
  • Medium – 1″ diameter base
  • Large – 2″ diameter base
  • Huge – 3″ diameter base
  • Gargantuan – typically uses a 4″ diameter base. If the base size is different, it will be noted in the listing.

32mm (heroic scale) miniatures may have bases that are slightly larger.

75mm (display scale) miniatures will typically have a base that is around 3″. Models in this size will have their actual dimensions in their description

  • Product images may include renders, special effects, and/or custom paint that may not be indicative of the received product. We will be adding actual photos of the printed objects as we produce them. If you would like us to send a photo of anything in our shop that doesn’t already have one prior to shipping, please let us know and we’ll be happy to oblige.
  • Unless otherwise specified, all products are 3d-printed in gray with either an ABS-like resin or PLA. This ensures the products are durable but still hold their detail
  • We still recommend handling the products with care as many have very fine, delicate features that can still be easily broken
  • Because of the production process, there may be slight variations, indentations, or rough edges that need to be cleaned up before use/painting
  • Some models require assembly, which may involve sanding, filing, and/or fillers for gaps and seams
  • Dice towers are printed hollow with 2.5mm thick walls. This is to ensure that we are able to provide them at a reasonable price but still have enough strength to hold up to use and packing/unpacking at the gaming table.
  • We perform a thorough inspection of every product before it’s shipped to ensure that it is something that we would be proud to display on our own tables.
